Hot Girl Summer Skin

The calendar might say that fall is approaching, but as far as weather in the South goes, it will be awhile before we dip below 90 degrees - and because of that, I've been working on tailoring a go-to foundation routine that's still light on the skin and defies the makeup-melting temperatures I experience walking across campus everyday. Here's a breakdown of all of my favorite products that withstand the test of Texas heat.

During the warm months when I'm at my summer shade (thanks to self-tanner and lots of sunscreen, of course), this has been my go-to everyday routine. I don't regularly wear a lot of makeup, so this is my take on a simple, barely-there makeup look that's easily adaptable to the person wearing it.

Primer - MILK MAKEUP Hydro Grip Primer, $30 at Sephora;

Foundation - Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in the shade "Light Beige", $39 at Ulta/Sephora; MAC Strobe Cream in the shade "Pinklite", $14 at MAC

Concealer - ColourPop No Filter Concealer in the shade "Light 10", $7 at Ulta

Setting Powder - Maybelline FitMe Loose Finishing Powder in the shade "05 Fair", $5 at Target

The key to maintaining the dewiness of this look is to use as little powder as possible - I usually only set the hollows of my undereyes with a very light layer in order to increase the longevity of my concealer, and to prevent this area from becoming too shiny. For the rest of the face, I rely on my primer and setting spray to maintain the hold of my products. If you have a more oily complexion, you might need to be more generous with your setting powder, but try to use a facial spray or setting spray on top that will restore some of that summer dewiness. (My favorite is the Pixi Skintreats Glow Tonic, which you can grab for $15 at Target!)

Bronzer - Maybelline FitMe Shine-Free + Balance Foundation Stick in the shade "Toffee Caramel", $7 at Target

Blush - Nars Blush in the shade "Orgasm", $30 at Ulta/Sephora

Set - Morphe Continuous Setting Mist, $16 at Ulta

Now I know what you're thinking - no highlight? Who is she? But this look doesn't really call for it, especially on a daily basis; you can definitely add as much shine as you'd like, but between the dewy foundation dilated with Pinklite, the light shimmer in the blush, and the lack of powder overtop, your skin will glow beautifully on its own.

On an average day, I like to keep things here as simple as possible - some lightly filled brows and mascara on the lashes. I just need enough to make me look like I woke up today.

Brows - Benefit Cosmetics Precisely, My Brow Pencil in the shade "3 Warm Light Brown", $24 at Ulta/Sephora; Glossier Boy Brow in the shade "Brown", $16 at Glossier

Crease - Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer in the shade "Rosewood", $28 at Ulta/Sephora

I have been LIVING & DYING by this lip gloss all summer on days that all I want is something light and nourishing. It's a perfect sheen and the scent is summery without being overwhelmingly sweet. Warning: it's hard to go back to your EOS and Burt's Bees after this so try at your own risk.

Gloss - Kopari Coconut Lip Glossy, $13 at Ulta/Sephora
